Fridge Door Seal Replacement in Parramatta
A worn door seal lets warm air in, so your fridge runs harder, frosts up and costs more to run. We supply and fit genuine or custom-made door seals for fridges and freezers across Parramatta, with a fixed quote before any work starts.

How Much Does Fridge Door Seal Replacement Cost?
Most fridge and freezer door seal replacements in Parramatta cost $120 to $300. The price depends on your brand and on whether a genuine seal exists for your model or a custom seal has to be made. We supply and fit the seal, and you get a fixed quote before we start.
A worn seal makes the compressor work harder, so replacing it often pays for itself in lower power bills. See all prices in our fridge repair cost guide, or book online.
Signs Your Fridge Door Seal Needs Replacing
Any one of these can mean a seal that is no longer gripping. Two or three together almost always do.
Door does not close tight
The door springs open slightly or you can feel a gap along the edge.
Fridge runs all the time
A leaking seal lets warm air in, so the compressor keeps running to catch up.
Frost or ice near the door
Warm, damp air gets in and freezes on the cold surfaces around the door.
Condensation or water around the door
Moisture collects where the warm air meets the cold inside.
Cracked, torn or mouldy seal
A split or black, mouldy seal cannot hold a tight seal any more.
Paper slides out easily
Shut the door on a sheet of paper. If you can pull it out with no drag, the seal is worn.
How to Test a Fridge Door Seal
Try this before you book. It takes a minute and tells you where the seal is failing.
Use a sheet of paper
Close the door on a piece of paper or a dollar note, with the paper half in and half out.
Pull it out gently
If it slides out with no drag, that spot is not sealing. If it grips, the seal is fine there.
Test all around the door
Check the top, bottom and both sides. One weak corner is enough to let warm air in.
| What you find | Likely cause | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Gap along the hinge side | Door sagging or hinge worn | Adjust or replace the hinge, then check the seal |
| Gap in a corner | Seal shrunk, folded or torn at the corner | Replace the seal, or reshape a minor fold |
| Seal flat, hard or cracked | Old rubber that has lost its flex | Replace the seal |
| Black mould on the seal | Moisture trapped in the folds | Clean once, replace if it keeps coming back |
| Door will not stay shut | Weak magnet, worn seal or a tilted fridge | Replace the seal and check the fridge is level |
| Frost only on one side | Seal gap on that side | Find the gap and replace or refit the seal |
Genuine vs Custom-Made Fridge Door Seals
Not every fridge has a seal you can buy off the shelf. Here is how we choose.
Genuine seal
The manufacturer's part for your model. It fits exactly and is our first choice where one is available. Genuine seals for premium brands such as Fisher & Paykel, Liebherr, Miele and Sub-Zero cost more.
Custom-made seal
Cut and joined to your fridge's measurements. Useful for older or discontinued models where a genuine seal is no longer made. It takes longer because it is made to order, and we give you a timeframe when we quote.
Have your model number ready when you book. It is on a label inside the fridge, and a photo is enough.
Can You Replace a Fridge Door Seal Yourself?
Sometimes yes. Here is when it works and when it is worth calling us.
Worth a try yourself
- You have the exact seal for your model.
- The seal is a simple pull-in type with no screws behind it.
- The door hangs straight and the fridge is level.
- Warm the new seal in the sun or with warm water so it relaxes before fitting.
Better to call us
- You are not sure of the model or the seal size.
- The seal is screwed or glued on, or the door is a multi-door or French door.
- The door sags or the hinge has worn. A new seal will not fix that on its own.
- It is a commercial fridge or coolroom door.
If the fridge is also warm, our fridge not cooling repair page covers the other likely causes.
